Cleansing Energy… Develop the Habit Let’s remember to make cleansing our energy field a daily practice as we prepare to return to our shorter daytime lives.  In the moderate weather of spring, summer and early Fall the longer sunshine periods help us to receive a cleansing benefit naturally. The desire to improve a person, place or thing by erasing psychic energy debris is an easily attainable goal.  Clearing or cleansing energy is sometimes called raising the vibration.  It can be achieved utilizing visualizations, smudging, prayers, burning candles, aroma therapy, rituals, hands on energy work, reciting mantras, singing or chanting, to name the most popular methods. If you suspect that the practice of cleansing and clearing negative energy amounts to anything more than a mind game, please give it a try. The change will be evident within an hour. It is ok with me if you are a show me person.  I am too.  I respect skepticism when it is accompanied by an open mind and a willingness to learn new ideas.  Refusing to give a new thought consideration indicates fear, ignorance, and insecurity, in my opinion. My response to a closed mind is typically, “Spirit will wake you up one day.” I have a long record of Spirit waking me up to new thoughts, practices and methods of being and thinking.  My belief system has changed many, many times during this incarnation.  I doubt that it will stop evolving in this world or the ones’ to follow. I keep several bundles of dried sage on hand for energy clearing and cleansing. Natural plant smoke is a beautiful symbol for spirit in action.  Smoke is able to permeate a dwelling, reaching into the smallest recesses and cracks, too.  It can also be applied to clearing the aura of an individual. The best method I’ve found to apply sage smoke is to place the sage into a secure fire proof container, one that is large enough to hold the lighted sage bundle in its entirety. Have a container of water close by incase you lose control of the embers. Light the sage and hold the container in one hand securely. Use your other hand to direct the smoke.  Some people like to use a feather instead of their hand, both methods work well. To smudge a person: direct the smoke to the top of the head, face, heart, shoulders, then down the arms and legs, apply the smoke to the front and back of the body. The practice of shamanic smudging has been practiced for centuries around the globe.  The intention is to restore peace and harmony to the person, place or thing. The practice of smudging or cleansing energy of a home or building is much like the actions described above.  It can be administered by several people or a single one with noticeable effectiveness. Cover each doorway and window with smoke. I suggest the first time the doors and windows remain open during the smudging to allow the negativity to escape.  Then close them and repeat the process.  The intention of this practice is to close the likely entryways to the unwelcome. People generate negativity in their homes and work sites.  Just as people create garbage as a byproduct of living, they also create murky energy in their environments.  We know to carry our physical garbage out regularly, but rarely do we think to clean out the energy debris. Think of the practice like the garden visualization I provided earlier.  Your home and work site are primary arenas for sowing and reaping simply because those are the places you are located most of your waking hours.   Maintain health and harmony by clearing yourself, your home, and your work place frequently.  If it isn’t feasible to apply herbal smoke for energy clearing, perform it mentally, or sprinkle blessed water about as if it were smoke. Visualization is a powerful tool that people are able to apply intentionally.  I want to distinguish the difference between visualization and remote viewing to avoid any confusion about my intended meaning.  Visualization is the mind’s view of what it desires to see.  It is our imagination engaged in positive activities.  Desire is the underscored word in the definition. Remote viewing is the mind’s ability to see something or someone as they are, in the location they are in, at a precise time and space.  Are is underscored in this definition. It is important to relax the body and clear the mind of distracting thoughts when preparing to visualize.  The ability to perceive an impression will come into focus more easily with practice.  Visualizing can be an act of allowing an impression to come to you, as well as something you create in your mind. I have experienced visualizations that provided immediate feedback. Not all will do that.  One was informing me “that’s never going to happen.”  The image was of me attempting to struggle up a large sand dune and making no progress.  Sand is a common symbol of futility.  The feedback would have been affirming had I instead experienced myself gliding easily up a hill.
